e-Return: file your income tax return online in Bangladesh

e-Return is the National Board of Revenue’s online income-tax return. The official portal is etaxnbr.gov.bd. This desk helps you prepare the individual return (IT-11GA), calculate tax, and download an NBR-style Excel file before you submit there.

What is e-Return?

e-Return (also written eReturn or e-return) is the digital income-tax return for Bangladesh. Individual taxpayers register with a TIN, enter income and tax already paid, and submit the return to NBR online instead of a paper IT-11GA at the circle office.

NBR has asked individual taxpayers to file online through the e-Tax portal. The live government site for filing is etaxnbr.gov.bd. The older income-tax login at secure.incometax.gov.bd is still used for e-TIN and some account tasks.

Official e-Return portal vs this desk

This website is not the National Board of Revenue and not etaxnbr.gov.bd. Official submission, payment of tax to the government, Return Verify / PSR and the Express Certificate happen on NBR systems.

  • Official file & pay: etaxnbr.gov.bd (e-Return, e-Tax payment, Express Certificate).
  • Official TIN: secure.incometax.gov.bd (e-TIN registration and TIN certificate).
  • This desk: prepare figures, see slabs and rebate, download IT-11GA-style Excel. We do not issue a certificate.

This desk does not issue a tax certificate. Banks, passport and tenders want the official Express Certificate after NBR accepts the e-Return.

Who should file an e-Return?

If you have a TIN and you are required to file under the Income Tax Act, NBR expects the return online. That includes salaried people, landlords, business owners, freelancers and anyone whose income, wealth or specific transactions make a return mandatory.

  • You already have a 12-digit TIN.
  • You received a salary certificate, house rent, bank interest, sanchaypatra or business income.
  • A bank, employer, passport office or tender asked for a tax certificate or acknowledgement.

Papers to keep before you open e-Return

  • TIN certificate and National ID (or passport).
  • Salary certificate and any TDS / challan for tax already deducted.
  • Bank, DPS and sanchaypatra interest certificates.
  • House-rent deed or collection proof if you let out property.
  • Investment proofs if you claim rebate (DPS, life insurance, approved funds).
  • Last year’s acknowledgement if you filed before.
