e-TIN registration in Bangladesh (free TIN certificate)

An e-TIN is the 12-digit Taxpayer Identification Number issued by NBR. Registration on the official site is free. You need it before you can file an income-tax e-Return.

Where to apply

Apply at secure.incometax.gov.bd (TIN Home). Do not pay a middleman for the government TIN itself — the stated government fee is Tk 0. This desk does not issue official TINs.

  • National ID or passport.
  • Mobile number registered with your NID (biometric).
  • Present address, father’s and mother’s names as on the NID, date of birth.
  • Photograph if the form asks for one.

TIN certificate vs income-tax certificate

The TIN card proves you are registered. The income-tax / Express certificate proves a return was filed for an assessment year. Banks and tenders often want the second paper, which NBR releases after e-Return — not when you only have a TIN.
