Two different papers people mix up

e-TIN certificate
Your 12-digit Taxpayer Identification Number. Apply once. Needed for banks, trade licence, property and filing a return.
Government fee: Tk 0

Income tax / Express certificate
Proof that a return was filed for an assessment year. Banks, passport and tenders often ask for this, not only the TIN card.
Available only after the return is submitted on etaxnbr.gov.bd
Papers for an individual e-TIN
Apply at secure.incometax.gov.bd
- ✓National ID (NID), or passport if you are a foreigner
- ✓Mobile number biometrically linked with your NID
- ✓Present and permanent address as you will use on the return
- ✓Father’s / mother’s name exactly as on the NID
- ✓Date of birth as on the NID
- ✓A recent photo only if the portal asks for one
Papers for a company e-TIN
- ✓Certificate of incorporation from RJSC
- ✓Memorandum and Articles of Association
- ✓NID of the authorised director / managing director
- ✓Registered office address
- ✓Trade licence if you already have one
How to get the official NBR tax certificate
This is the Express Certificate on the NBR e-Return site. No extra government fee.
- Register or log in at etaxnbr.gov.bd with your 12-digit TIN.
- Use the mobile number that is biometrically registered with your NID (type it without the leading 0).
- File the income-tax return for the assessment year.
- Open Download Express Certificate, tick the boxes you need, then print or save the PDF.
This site does not issue a tax certificate. Download Excel here, submit the official e-Return, then collect the NBR Express Certificate from etaxnbr.gov.bd.
Papers to keep when you fill the return here
NBR does not ask you to upload these when you file online, but you must keep them if the circle later audits you.
Salary certificate / pay slips and PF statement
Bank, DPS, FDR and sanchaypatra interest + TDS statements
Tax deducted at source certificates
Rebate proofs: life insurance, DPS, listed securities
Trade licence (if you have a business)
Rent agreement and municipal tax (if you have house property)
Deed / porcha and loan statements for the wealth statement
